World Urban Parks encourages and recognises leadership contributions made by individuals to the urban parks, open space and recreation sector from Emerging Cities (developing nations). The Emerging Cities Leaders Award recognises any individual associated with the parks, open space and recreation sectors.




Young
Leaders



World Urban Parks encourages and recognises young leaders (individuals) who have committed to making a difference in their communities and internationally. The Young Leaders Award recognises any individual associated with the parks, open space and recreation industry under the age of 35.




Leading
Organization Award



World Urban Parks is proud to establish a new award to recognise leading organizations who directly manage a park or park system. This award is not an accreditation system but recognition of an organization's commitment to the global ideals of World Urban Parks as reflected in their actions and approach to the management of urban parks. This award can be awarded to multiple organizations in a given year.

The Legacy Award of World Urban Parks honors the significant contributions of individuals or organizations to the field of parks and park management over a period of 15 or more years. It highlights the enduring impact of their work on enhancing and preserving public parks, acknowledging their dedication and influence in promoting green urban spaces for community benefit and environmental sustainability.

Large Urban Parks Awards

International
Large Urban Park Award



The International Large Urban Parks Awards aim to recognize the quality of parks, the skills of the people who manage them and the value they bring to the cities they serve.

World Urban Parks invites all parks around the world to apply for the Large Urban Parks Award. Large urban parks are very different. Some are well-groomed parks in the midst of a city; others are landscape parks on the periphery of a city. Some may contain deep forests, others agricultural areas. Some may be old, filled with historic heritage, others newly created. Climate differs and offers various types of nature. Usage differs from heavily populated to sparsely visited green spaces.

Outstanding
New Park Project Award



World Urban Parks honors the impact of parks on urban livability with its annual awards. The Outstanding New Park Project Award celebrates exemplary park development that meet community needs, tackle enviromental challenges, and demonstrate excellence and innovation in design, construction, and management.

Who Qualifies For This Award?


New public park development projects that:

  • Are located in an urban setting.
  • Have been completed in the last fice years.
  • Provide free, unrestriced access at minimum during daytime hours.
  • May be funded, developed, operated, and maintained by any
    combination of goverment, non-profit, or private entities.

Local Neighborhood

Park Award


World Urban Parks encourages and recognizes the significant contributions made by parks and open spaces to the life and livability of cities with its annual awards program. The Local/Neighborhood Parks Award recognizes exemplary local, neighborhood parks and open spaces that reflect the input and aspirations of the communities they serve, address the pressing environmental challenges of our time, and exemplify excellence and innovation in park management.

Who Qualifies For This Award?


New public park development projects that:

  • Are located in an urban setting.
  • Are less than 10 hectares in area.
  • Primarily serve the needs of the surrounding neighborhood or the local community.
  • Provide free, unrestriced access at minimum during daytime hours.
  • Are not a citywide or regional destination.
  • May be managed by any
    combination of goverment, non-profit, or private entities.

2. If you are not a member, acquire your WUP membership: office@worldurbanparks.org

3. Register to your category and
Upload your proposal data.

4. Receive confirmation of receipt of the online form.

5. Wait for the results.

6. Attend and receive your awards at the 2024 WUP Congress in the Netherlands.
